This has been a tremendous help. Ralph struggles with a cone and this meant no cone, happier dog and helped the incision site heal with no complications.
Given what is it and amount of material used, I did think it was expensive and postage cost was outrageous but it did do what it said it would do.
Siobhan C.
Was recommended to buy this for my dog post-hip replacement. It was easy to put on and she didn't mind it being on either. It has help keep her wound area free from infection and her wound has healed very well.
She is slowly recovering well and we can't wait for her to be fully recovered
Craig u.
UK side delivery was terrible, sleave is really good, easy to use and clean. Fits perfect on the dog and hard wearing, would highly recommend.
Inez D.
Brilliant sleeve. My girl had a lump removal on her hind thigh. Unfortunately the wound stitches failed so we had to allow slow healing as an open wound. Impossible to manage without this sleeve. Our vet was very impressed with this as well. Only negative was the price. We needed 2 so £160 including the £20 shipping each time was a lot.
Annette C.
Works really well, dog was really comfortable (not stressed like in an Elizabethan collar). Material is lovely and soft
Marianne U.
Excellent product - but need to order in plenty of time as took a while to arrive.
Mark L.
Great alternative to a plastic collar. Should be available in pet shops!!
Suzanne W.
Absolutely life save for my springer who had mpl op 15 days ago haven’t needed the horrible cone at all defo recommend this
Simon T.
While Lilly was not a big fan of the cone, her humans were happy that she couldn’t lick her stitches and infect it like last time. This saved us so much money on additional vet bills that it was definitely worth it, especially for a dog that can get around cones or are able to destroy them over night.
Carol G.
Works really well, washes beautifully. Well worth the buy
J C K.
I haven’t used it yet, but the item arrived very quickly and the material of the item looks very good. Sturdy clip too. Very impressed.
Jee young S.
Easy to put on and soft material
Adam M.
Really helpful for my dog after her TPLO surgery.
Paula L.
This has been amazing for my dog Bertie's TPLO recovery. No cone needed and washes well and dries really quickly. Worth every penny!
Alison S.
A friend recommended a lick sleeve after our dog ruptured her cruciate ligament and needed TPLO surgery. We knew from previous experiences she hated the cone of shame so wanted an alternative. This has been a game changer! It doesn’t bother her at all to have it on, it allows the wound to breathe and heal and stress free. Worth every penny and highly recommend
Emma B.
Our dog has had his ankle fused so we were worried about him leaving the wound alone when his bandages came off and fear of infection. We’ve only had the lick sleeve on for two days, but he’s taken to it very well and is leaving it alone. It must be comfortable for him not to react! It’s very good quality and easy to put on when you get the hang of it.
So far, very impressed!
Tanya K.
My Cavalier King Charles spaniel had patella laxtion surgery and it has been a godsend. She hasn’t had to use a cone and it's really worked well, very comfortable for her and really impressed thank you.
David C.
This is the second time we have purchased and used this product. Our Beagle/Labrador cross used the product last year when he had TPLO surgery for cruciate ligament injury. It proved very useful so when he needed the same procedure on the other leg this year this product was our go to. Not only does it protect the wound and provide cover to the shaved leg, it completely necessitates the need for an Elizabethan cone (which failed abysmally)
Richard M.
A great item to help recovery and improve post operative care after limb surgery.
Mr r.
Does the job...we had to sow the clip back on where the material had came off, not what we expected after 4 weeks and cost £80.
Beth M.
The look of the Lick Sleeve is very chic and the packaging is lovely!
We are yet to use it in practice to give a good idea on how it works, but the material feels really nice and breathable and I look forward to hearing review from owners after a patient trial.
R M.
My Goldendoodle had TPLO surgery and really hated the cone he returned home from the vet with. I searched online and found your company and was so impressed with the reviews I immediately ordered the lick sleeve. It was delivered within 2 days and can honestly say we would not of got through these past two weeks of his recovery as easily without this! It goes on and off really easily & my dog seems comfortable wearing it. It has totally protected the wound from him getting to it while still allowing him freedom from wearing the cone!
Kate S.
Absolute godsend! My dog had cruciate ligament surgery and hated the cone and inflatable collar, so the lick sleeve saved the day. It’s pricey, but worth the investment.
Andreea D.
Easy to fit, easy to cut to fit length of leg. Only issue is the strap, which seems to cut into the skin when wrapped if the dog wiggles too much afterwards. Size M for a 13.5kg spaniel.
Grace K.
Fits well, easy to put on and adjust the strap. Lovely soft material, suited my dog for her cruciate surgery recovery just perfectly and kept the wound safe, clean and dry. Very impressed with this product and would definitely recommend
Mark P.
The material catches on the wound stitches causing irritation
Joanne K.
This product is amazing. The design is perfect. My cavapoo was 3.6kg when she had it on. I couldn’t be happier.
Thank you so much
John W.
Did the job perfect. A lot better than the lamp shade collar.
Tracey B.
My Golden Retriever had cruciate ligament surgery and this licki sleeve has been amazing for her heeling as she has been unable to lick her wound so it’s prevented any infections. Highly recommended.
Michael A.
Our Bernese mountain dog had LTPO surgery. She wasn’t too bothered by the surgery but using the lick sleeve enabled us to take off her cone allowing her to sleep in comfort when supervised. It is very easy to slip on and off so this gave the wound a chance to heal too.
We’re Very happy with the product and would recommend to anyone who has to deal with this aftercare procedure. Thank you
Edward M.
My dog had an operation for a snapped ACL, she is not a fan of the cone of shame and can easily get it off. I went for a sleeve and its true you get what you pay for. The licksleeve fitted perfectly and she did not mind it at all. It could be worn all the time and never came loose. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Beverly W.
Absolutely brilliant!
Pat G.
Sizes don't work for greyhounds, medium for waist and large for leg length. Went for the medium so it would fit around the waist and not fall off. Unfortunately far too tight around lower leg, would have made wound worse.
Catherine L.
My 12yo Bichon had TPLO surgery and the lick sleeve was a perfect alternative to the cone of shame. She was very content to wear it at any stage although still needed supervision as managed to often slip out of it after a period of time. Would buy again. Also I had an issue with sizing and Crystal in customer service was excellent and promptly dealt with my request.
Brian H.
It does what it says on the tin. Thought the size guide was a little misleading we ordered a large but thought a medium would have been more suitable. But a good product.
Marilyn G.
Sammy has taken to wearing his lick sleeve very well and it works a treat. It has meant he hasn’t needed a cone on his head, which he is very happy about.
That said, it’s not perfect, it was more expensive than it needs to be. At the end of the day, it’s a piece of fabric with a clip and so for £60 expensive. Maybe as more are sold, the price will come down? I’ll be lending mine to any family/friends dogs if they need it to save them money.
Julie B.
What a fantastic product. It has stop our dog from getting anywhere near her stitches. Would recommend this product 100%
Mr G.
Lick sleeve is very good quality. Quite expensive for what it is. What I found annoying was the delivery charge of £20 which is way over the top for something so small and light. You may want to review this charge as not everyone will be able to afford this extra charge.
Isobel G.
Bought after dog had cruciate ligament surgery. Tried cheaper alternatives but she could always get to the wound. Now, after 4 weeks, the wound has healed really well and she shouldn’t need to wear the sleeve for much longer.
Newsletter H.
I found it very difficult and impractical to use. I had not considered that for male dogs it would need to be unwrapped so that my dog could have a pee. This caused a lot of stress and disruption to my dog who was already in pain and distress due to his surgery scar. After several trips for my dog to go to the toilet my dog was shaking and scared of me. During the night, my dog just licked the sleaved, making it wet and the wound raw and bleeding. The sleave did not solve a problem, it created new ones. After 2 days I had to abandon using it and replace with a £15 inflatable collar. The cost of sleave is expensive. Add this to the extortionate, non-refundable shipping costs, this was a huge and expensive disappointment. Regarding the shipping costs of £20 for next day delivery. How do you justify this when you are UK based and use a courier like Evri. I had to replace my first item because it was too small and ordered a larger version. That means £40 just on shipping. On each occasion, Evri was a day late. I am very unhappy with the product and the service.
Lesley A.
Used after our Goldies TPLO- brilliant item Stops her licking the wound perfectly.
Pauline B.
Very good fits well
Emma C.
My dog had to have TPLO surgery. She had already had this surgery 3yrs ago on the other leg and caring for her afterwards was a real challenge, including the cone of doom to stop her licking the wound site.
This time I did some research to be better prepared and found the LickSleeve product online. I asked the veterinary surgeon if they were happy for my dog to wear the sleeve immediately after the surgery and upon review they said this product looked very promising and encouraged me to use it. The best decision I ever made! It has made the healing process so much easier, my dog is very content in the Licksleeve and has been seemingly almost unaware of the wound site - no infection, a constantly clean wound and after only 10 days the vet said we could take it off. I kept it on for a few more days just to keep it protected for as long as possible but I cannot understate what a difference it has made to this process. It washed easily and dried very quickly and my dog has been very happy to wear it 24hrs a day.
It was so worth investing in!
Jenny R.
Obviously the lick sleeve is totally better than the cone. However, when my dog was restless the lick sleeve slid off her back and then she was able to get to her wound. I found that at night and when leaving alone for a period of time it was best to use the cone as well as the sleeve
Colleen M.
Purchased the Lick Sleeve as my dog had a long standing wound that wasn't healing .
Within days of using the Lick Sleeve the wound on my dogs leg started to heal as my dog was unable to get to wound and lick and make sore.
Raman J.
The lick sleeve has been brilliant as without it my dog would have been licking her wound none stop, so would highly recommend. Thank you
Jacqueline A.
Really good alternative to a cone after operations, especially at night time, would definitely recommend.
Erica M.
Our dog has been very comfortable in the lick sleeve. Much easier than the buster collar that is restrictive and hot. I’ve washed the lick sleeve and it’s drying quickly. Our dog has licked the lick sleeve a lot but no harm to the stitches at all. Job done.
Elisabeth J.
Was just what was needed. Helped me and my dog through a difficult time after the surgery.
Malcolm G.
Wish had known about these sooner. So much better than the usual "lampshade"
A w.
Postage was slow and ridiculously priced at £20 Evri?? This is a shame and will put a lot of people off as it would have me if I had realised cost before I ordered. The sleeve it’s self is great my old Labrador was very happy and comfortable in it helping her healing .. would highly recommend product but please sort your postage cost and provider Evri is not £20 !!!
Rachel B.
Unfortunately our dog chewed through the lick sleeve, our fault because we shouldn't have left him wearing it unsupervised. I was also very dissapointed to have to pay £20 for expedited shipping with no other choice. When charging £20 for expedited shipping I would expect the package to be completely trackable and for it to arrive the next moring before 10am however this was not the case. The company used was EVRI and there is no tracking available that is reliable. The parcel took several days to arrive and I was not able to see where it was and when it would arrive. This is dissapointing.
Pete S.
Absolute game changer after our dog had TPLO surgery for crutiate ligament damage
Would definitely recommend
Mr A.
My King Charles Cavalier had a luxating patella operation and it really helped to stop him chewing the wound and kept it clean.
Alison J.
This has been a life saver! Our greyhound sustained a nasty laceration to the skinny part of her leg which needed weeks of dressings. Having this to put over the dressings meant we could leave her unsupervised knowing she wouldn’t be able to lick/unravel/chew the bandages. Worth every penny!
Hazel B.
Great idea-easy to get on and off- hasn’t bothered my dog at all
Michelle D.
Great quality.
Our dog was very happy to wear it.
He is a big dog ..56 kg ..so was worried about the fit ..we got the XL and fit perfectly .
So much better than the Elizabethan collar.
Helen P.
The size was too small even though my measurements were correct and I didn't need to size down. A great product when it fits.
Madeleine W.
This sleeve transformed the post-op experience. Very easy to wear and clean - she barely noticed it was on and it completely did away with the need for a cone of shame!
Angela K.
With the cone my dog was suffering with anxiety and would not get up or walk due to all the bashing about and not being able to sniff the ground.
The lick sleeve was a revelation - the moment we took the cone off and put the sleeve on my dog became happier and more interested in getting up and walking. She can sniff the ground, eat her food and drink as well toilet more happily.
Paula R.
Seems to be doing the job. Dom the collie is very comfortable and has stopped nibbling a sore. Good job.
Louisa E.
The lick sleeve has been brilliant. Peace of mind for us. Much better for our dog than the cone. This has been by far the best thing I've bought in a long time!
Neil E.
Great product and great customer service. Highly recommended! :)
James G.
Not tried on a patient yet but product looks good quality and easy to use.
Nichola H.
My crazy bulldog required knee surgery and I knew that she would go bananas with a cone of shame.
I bought the lick sleeve to protect the surgical site because she is a power chewer and could wrestle her way out of anything.
Well it stayed put and the wound was untouched.
I would give it 5 stars but the £20 UK national postage is the most extortionate price for any delivery of this size.
Jacqueline A M.
Soft, comfortable and good fit . Much better than a cone
Maria D.
After an injury to my labradoodles leg this was a great alternative to a hard cone. She did still lick the area but it protected it. It’s very comfortable and when you can’t keep your eye on them it’s a great option.
Jessica P.
The lick sleeve was easy to put on, fitted well and did a great job of keeping our pup away from her TPLO wound. She has her other leg done later this month so the fact we can reuse the sleeve on the other side is fantastic. I would definitely recommend the lick sleeve
Sammi A.
Works well and has been a saver so she didn’t have to wear those cones. She seems less stressed and relaxed
G
Great product worked wonders so far
Sally D.
This was SO much better than the dreaded cone. It worked brilliantly. Our GSP had TPLO surgery for a torn cruciate and I would highly recommend the lick sleeve for other dogs with same or similar.
Claire r.
Yes the lick slleve worked well for me as my dog does not like a cone. However, I found that when the dog rolled along carpet or grass, she was able to pull it down her more and the clip would be right above her tail. I would imagine, if I was not supervising her, this would come off and she would get to the wound but I watched her all day to avoid the cone until the sticthes were well healed. Not sure I would trust it if I had to go to work for day etc. My dog a cavachon and I bought the small one, while the leg is [perfect, i felt there could have been more to go around her belly. Overall though a good idea. Note If i had to leave her un attended, the sleeve would have to in some way be attached to her chest.
Maureen
This covers the area on our dogs leg which she was continually licking and re-infecting whenever we removed her “cone of shame”. She seems so much more relaxed and happy now and the area is protected so she cam fully recover. The fabric and design of this product are excelent. I looked everywhere and tried several recovery suits before investing in the lick sleeve. I am very glad I did. It is a great investment.
Gem F.
Our dog had right hind knee surgery a few years ago, and prior to starting on pain medication recently, he incessantly licked and licked at his leg, resulting in unhealing sores and hotspots - the moment they started healing, he would lick at them and open up the wounds again. Lick sleeve has kept his leg and wounds protected and allowed time to heal, without constant abrasion from his licking.. We are only a week in and already his wounds are healing nicely. Also very easy to wash and quick drying. Worth every penny spent and much nicer than the cone of shame!!
Iain T.
Our terrier had a tumour removed from her inner, rear left thigh. She was given a plastic cone by the vet and we were instructed to leave it on for 10 days, with a post op inspection in 3 days. The cone was off by the time we travelled 20 mins home. It drove the dog mad.
We had anticipated problems so had bought the lick sleeve prior to the op and tried it out; the
dog stopped licking the open wound in the tumour as she couldn’t access it and she tolerated the sleeve well.
We applied the lick sleeve as soon as we got home from the op. No licking!
When we returned to the vet for the 3 day review, post op, the sutured wound was barely visible. We left the sleeve on for the 10 day period only removing it to wash it a couple of times. ( it dries in no time) The wound had completely healed.
An amazing result. Our dog is nervous and anxious but she didn’t mind the sleeve being in place and this allowed her wound to heal well.
I have only one very minor criticism and that is the measurements stated on the website. Our dog, being a bit odd, would have been better off with the XS leg sleeve, combined with the S waist band (she is a bit pot- bellied and the XS waist measurement was too small) but they aren’t interchangeable. We got round this by simply rolling the leg sleeve up a couple of times at the hem. ( we didn’t risk cutting it in case we got it wrong!)
We would highly recommend the lick sleeve, it isn’t cheap, and the postage was expensive too, but it was worth every penny.
Susan H.
Aldo has gotten used to the sleeve and is so relieved to be out of the dreaded cone. Very well made. We had to cut the end of the sleeve off to make application easier and the material hasn’t frayed at all. Very pleased!
Jen H.
My collie girl, Layla, has a lump on her rear right hock that isn’t easy to remove. She’s nearly 13 and surgery options are very limited. She keeps taking a layer of skin off her lump when she goes for a walk but since having the lick sleeve on she’s not only healed but not damaged it any more. She wore it 2 weeks straight at first and has been totally relaxed in it. It’s comfy for her to wear and allows her to go on enjoying life without harming it. Really pleased I picked the lick sleeve up for her.
Tania E.
What a wonderful product. No cone required!
Very soft material, no rubbing on skin, easy to wash & dry.
Would highly recommend Lick Sleeve.
Claire R.
Fantastic sleeve, soft material and simple to fit.
lesley m.
Made a huge difference Maggie was so sad with the surgical collar on. As soon as we put her lick sleeve on she settled and has been fine since. Not going for her wound at all.
Janet n.
Really great product. Kept my pups knee wound safe and clean too. Even managing to loosen her inflatable collar and deflate it the leg wound was safe from licking. It is pricey but worth every penny. Highly recommend.
Loraine S.
Lick sleeve is really good, it's expensive but better than others on the market. However, p&p is a rip off at £20.
Susan G.
The sleeve arrived quickly. Good size, perfect for our dogs leg who had just had an operation. Much better option than the cone
David E.
Great product, very useful solution vs using a cone or similar, our little dog did not seem to mind it one bit!
Cameron P.
Great easy to use product. Kept dog comfortable post surgery
David F.
Great product, far better than the dreaded cone
Andreas P.
Expensive compared to some of the other products we tried but it fits so much better and less restrictive than some of the more ‘body suite’ products.
Dawn G.
Fantastic item ….. easy to use & worked perfectly x
Sarah B.
This worked so well for my 78kg Mastiff following her cruciate surgery given an Elizabethan collar was out of the question due to her size. The sleeve was so easy to fit and adjust and she really didn’t bother with it at all. It was super easy to wash and dried very quickly meaning she wasn’t without it for long.
I did think it was a bit on the expensive side but then again, you can’t put a price on protecting what we love ❤️
Leanne E.
Great for my dog recovering from TPLO, she finds it really comfortable and covers her wound perfectly.
Sharon G.
Having ordered a medium and an XL arriving I did have concern. Rang customer service and they were most apologetic and sent another out by express. They are really simple to use, dry quickly and seem to be good quality. Overall pleased with my purchase
David F.
Asked what size I needed gave meaurements and was told to get large, its far too small to get over his foot and after much tribulations got it on to find too small round the belly as cant wrap twice even with maximum extension. So great idea but sadly didnt work for us
Marie D.
Sleeve is a soft but sturdy material. It has covered my dog’s leg post surgery and has meant she has not had to have a cone on. This has made her much more comfortable during recovery.
Would highly recommend.
Justin L.
Dog had her cruciate operated on. Had to wear an inflatable coller. Had managed to lick her leg round it and opened her wound. We tried doggy pyjamas (massive pain for toilet time). In the end we plumped for this, Not cheap but worth it. Easy to fit. We kept it on for the duration. She could go to the toilet. Wound healed no licking and she was so much happier not having the collar. Would recommend to anyone.
Lisa P.
Genius! My dog will not tolerate the collar of shame! This has been a god send!
Claire A.
Our dogs sore eventually healed. He was able to everything as normal and was much happier vs a cone
